Pre-Flower Stage has begun

Flipped the four girls on Sunday August 15th
Big Bud & Watermellon Photoperiods 4X4 Indoor Grow

Notes and photos from pre-flower stage:

On Sunday night, I turned out the lights until Tuesday morning, switching from light on 18/6 to 12/12.

This will trigger plants to go from Veg to Flower.

Water The Cannabis Plants Only When They Need it

So far plants are drinking water pretty slowly.

I’m watering them every 6-11 days. Some are requiring less watering because they are a week behind the others in root development.

Plants are going to take off in the next few weeks. Roots will develop more and faster in coming weeks and watering will be more frequent. At this point I am watering them all on different days depending on their individual needs. I water when dry. I usually can pick up plant and feel she is empty and in need. Sometime I can see her leaves drooping. I try to water a minute before the droop.

Two biggest mistakes by amateur growers are over-watering and over-fertilizing.

Take notes amateurs.

Don’t overthink it!! If you think it needs water, wait a day and see how much lighter the pot is and you will most likely see that it didn’t need water.  If plant is droopy or showing obvious signs of needing a drink, then give it to her, but don’t overthink it. Cannabis can handle a drying-out; In fact, they thrive on it.

Top-Dressing My Cannabis Plants With Gaia Green

  • I have already top-dressed the two big ones in front of tent with Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 before flip.
  • I used three Tbsp 4-4-4 and two Tbsp 2-8-4 in each five gallon pot.
  • I will be adding top-dressing every three weeks. I will be adding higher percent 2-8-4 Gaia bloom next feeding.
  • I will be giving other two their first top-dressing next watering.

Cannabis Medium: Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil With Coco

Plants look healthy and have no issues. I’m keeping it simple and I plan to make my next grow even simpler by just using Fox Farm Ocean Forest with some added perlite. I’ll will start top feeding before flip and top feed every 2 or 3 weeks.

I used my old blurple light for the beginning of veg and then hung my Mars Hydro TS3000. I kept it at about 19inch with about a 100 watt draw. Seemed to be the right height and amount of light to cover them while in veg. Since flip I have increased watt draw to about 200w. I will slowly turn up Dimmer until I reach my maximum watt draw on light which is about 425 watt draw. The light is supposed to draw 450w…. Oh well.

If I had to do all over again I’d have a light that could draw 600 watts. That would be a more appropriate size led light for 4×4 tent. Anything bigger is probably overkill and a waste of money to run them and the expense of buying them.

The TS 3000 will do the job and keep a little bit more money in my pocket but I think a little more power would = bigger buds.

Like my golf game I’m already making excuses. Haha. Puff puff pass.

I can’t say enough that the light is the single most important gear in the grow and it’s also the most expensive part of grow equipment. If you’re looking at lights and your light budget is only a couple hundred you will be disappointed with the quality of the buds.

Just flipped 4×4 grow canopy

Just flipped 4×4 grow canopy ( left front is a Big Bud strain and other 3 are Watermellon strain )

Lollipopped 4×4 grow tent. Nice even canopy using height adjusting platforms for each plant.
